Jesus, cast a look on me. Give me sweet simplicity. Make me poor and keep me low. Seeking only Thee to know.

Put your money where your mouth is...

I love God!
My sister, Anna, was telling me the other day about the importance of having these 3 people in our lives:
1. Someone as a friend
2. Someone as a mentor
3. Someone to hold you accountable
She's only 17-can you believe it?!?! If I had been that wise at 17 I wouldn't have made some of the mistakes that I did.
Anywho, Jesus held me accountable this morning for words I spoke last night.
Last night, I was telling some friends about how I have always had a heart for "racial reconciliation".
Don't know why but I have.
I want to focus some of our church's missions on that very topic.
After, dropping off my son at summer camp this morning, I was sitting at a red light, sipping my white chocolate mocha(MMMMmmm) and I saw a young mother and her 2 children crossing a 4 lane road right in front of my car. The little girl, she was about 6, looked at me right in the eye and waved. I waved back, they crossed safely, the light turned green, and I continued home.
That would have been that for many.
However, the Holy Spirit started tugging at my heart. And I believe that the only reason that I was able to feel that tugging and be obedient to it is because I am "earnestly seeking the Lord" and staying "in His word". Not because I'm better than anyone else. Not because I am further in my Christian walk. Not because I'm a nice person. This life, this free gift, is available to everyone.
I resisted the tugging thru 2 stoplights-
"I need to get home and clean up"
"The baby is ready for a nap".
But I finally submitted, turned around and found the group of 3. I pulled over and asked mom if she could use a ride.
She has been living here for only a month. Moved here from Jersey. But is originally from Georgia.
I told her that my baby's name is Georgia :)
"What are the names of your children?"
Heaven and Angel.
I'm not kidding.
She was walking her kids to swim lessons.
We talked during the short drive as Heaven and Angel busied themselves in the back of the car with my son's toys. When we arrived, I told Angel that he could have one of the toys but mom said "No. He needs to learn to respect other people's stuff."
Awesome.
Her name is Marla and I hope that we meet again.
By the way, they were African-American which is irrelevant except for the fact that God was giving me an opportunity to put my money where my mouth is.

Hebrews 11:6
"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."

Psalm 119:105 (New International Version)
" Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path."

1 Timothy 2:5-6
"For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men—the testimony given in its proper time."

  1. Anna's a pretty smart young lady as well as wise:

(not taking away anything Anna said, but adding to it, along with it)

1 john 11:11: "This He said, and after that He said to them, 'Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I go, so that I may awaken him out of sleep.'"
Jesus was God and he had friends. We are relational beings as also noted in Gen 2:18.

2 1 john 2:27: "As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him."
We should learn the bible from each other, but with the holy spirit, we should also be engulfed in our own study of the word. This is so that we all may be teachers of the word as the writer of Hebrews demands in 5:12.

3 Galatians 6:2: "Bear one another's burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ." We should be looking to bear each others burdens!

In all the Love of Christ,
    Paul
